Over the past few years, the tourism industry has increased in India. The rich culture, festivals, tradition and national heritage of India attract a lot of foreign tourists. So to provide convenience to the foreign visitors India government launched E tourist Visa in November 2014. For nine Indian airports and 43 countries, E tourist Visa facility was made available. Further, this E-visa facility was extended in the year 2015 to some other countries even. A list of 76 countries total comes under this service and government plans to increase it to 150.

1. Requirement for E tourist Visa

  • This visa is valid for the international travelers who seek to visit India for sightseeing, meeting friends, business, and medical treatments. Visa is given for short duration.

  • Passport should have a minimum of two blank pages for the stamp and the validity of the passport should be there at least for the six months from the arrival date.

  • It is important to have enough funds for the trip and a return ticket to their own country from India.

  • For Pakistani passport holder, e-visa is not available.

  • Official or Diplomatic passport holders cannot obtain the facility of E Visa

  • Applicants with international travel document cannot have E-Visa and even every individual should have a separate passport for E Visa. Re endorsed passport, passport of spouse or parents cannot be used

For the visa, you need to update your passport page and photo on the immigration site. Pay the Visa fee from your debit or credit card. After this, E Visa will be sent to you by email. Get its print and bring along when traveling to India.

3. Documents needed for E-Tourist Visa

The first page of the passport is to be updated in PDF format with a minimum size of 10 KB. The maximum can be till 300 KB. Even a picture in JPEG format is to be updated along with a minimum size of 10 KB and a maximum of 1MB.

  • The photo should have equal width and height. Front view of the photo is required with full face and opened eyes.

  • Like Visa for other countries, Photo should be a clear one from head to chin. Even hairstyle should be visible.

  • Background of the picture should be white or plain colored. No shadow should be there and borders are even not required.

4. Visa Fees

The fee for E-Tourist Visa is USD 60 per traveler. Interchange charge on the credit and debit card is not included in the fee. Prior four days before traveling fee should be submitted otherwise the application will not be processed. Even the fee is non-refundable. Whether you get the Visa or not fee would not be given back. While making payment for the Visa you need to be careful. If the unsuccessful attempts are beyond three than the application ID will be blocked

  • The E-Tourist Visa will be granted for thirty days.

  • At the arrival, biometric details of the applicant will be taken.

  • E-Tourist Visa is given twice a year to the visitors.

  • The nine airports which are designated for E-Tourist Visa are Trivandrum, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Goa and Cochin.
