It is located in the heart of Elbe Sandstone Mountains which is also known as Saxon Switzerland. It adjoined to the Bohemian Switzerland National Park which is situated in the Czech Republic.

This Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the northeast part of Italy. They stretch from the river Adige in which is located west to the Piave Valley in the east which forms the southern part of the limestone Alps. The Dolomites is shared equally by the province of Belluno, South Tyrol, and Trentino.
