Nahargarh fort is the first of three forts built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The fort is situated in Sawai Madhopur, in Rajasthan. It is located at the edge of Araballi, one of the largest mountains in the world. The fort offers a panoramic view of entire Pink City of Rajasthan. History says that the fort was named after the prince Nahar. It is said that during the construction of this palace his spirit troubled the area.

Being born and having travelled to Rajasthan countless number of times, it still is a revelation whenever I am visiting the place again.
While my connections reside in Jodhpur, I have seen and explored every major city in Rajasthan at different times of the year. Whether it’s the calm of Jodhpur or the hustle bustle of Jaipur; the lakes and romanticism that envelop Udaipur or the massive sand dunes of Jaisalmer- Rajasthan is certainly the most exquisite state in India and the world knows it!
1. Pink City

The state is not just famous for its culture, but for its distinguishing food, vivid artistry and stunning architecture! The Pink City of Jaipur is its capital and now almost like a metropolitan, yet you will see millions of tourists every year at Hawa Mahal and Amber fort. Next in line is the dreamy Udaipur!
The place is a hot wedding destination in India, and is home to some of the most expensive hotels in the country! After all, haven’t we all watched and loved Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani? You don’t even need a minute to fall in love with Udaipur.
A little less popular and underrated town is Pushkar. Set near Ajmer city, it is a holy place at the Pushkar Lake where the population of tourists exceeds that of the natives. It feels like you have come to Europe except that the setting is Indian!
2. Thar Desert

Come to Jaiselmer, which is the famous Thar Desert! The Magnetic Fields Festival in Jaiselmer is my personal favourite as the place is lit up and extremely lively during the time of the year. The camel rides are one hell of an experience and one must make the most of it! Of course, you love the deserts of the exotic Middle East, but Jaisalmer has its own native and rustic charm! Closer to Jaisalmer, is the peaceful Jodhpur, a city that offers its own local Rajasthani vibe, different from other cities of the state.
And while you are at it, you are accompanied with the endless and the most delicious options when it come to food. The choices among sweets will not cease to exist and the Rajasthani thali and the Laal Maas is unforgettable!
No other state certainly offers so much variety as Rajasthan does and that is the reason it remains the most sought after tourist destinations of India.
