Bhangarh Fort is no doubt the most haunted place in India. The fort is located in Rajasthan, India. It is a 5-6 hours drive from Delhi.
Join us on a photographic tour of the place & its mystery.
1. The journey
The drive to the Fort is beautiful, yet exudes a sense of mystery.
2. ASI Board
You pay a parking fee if you are in your own vehicle and move to the gate of Bhangarh Fort where you are greeted with an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) board that describes the place and its brief history.
3. The walk
Move inside & the mystery starts. On both sides of the walk-way, there are small structures which are believed to be erstwhile houses. But they are so small, it hardly makes sense. But then bhangarh fort is for believers.
4. The tree
A huge tree gives shade to the visitors and is in full bloom. Probably the only survivor of what actually happened in the bhangarh fort and why is it haunted
5. The first look
There it is. Standing tall. The board said that it once had 7 levels of structure but now left with only 4. Despite that it looks grand and so damn mystic. Haunted, I do not know. Mystic, definitely yes.
You will see lot of locals telling stories about the fort and its curse. The local dialect & lingos make it super exciting.
6. Entering the fort
As you enter bhangarh fort, an open area to the right stinks of bat and everything old. You move inside and the smell over powers you. What is it – just a problem of cleanliness or is it something else? Does it mean someone does not want you there? We cannot say for sure.
7. Ruins
It is a fort that speaks destruction and probably curse. You move around trying to figure out why is it so dilapidated
8. More ruins
Level one of the structure. What a view.
9. View from the fort
This is what you will see standing inside the bhangarh fort. Now imagine the place 300-500 years back. Must have been breathtaking.
10. View from the top
As you reach the top, bhangarh fort becomes intriguing and beautiful
11. Inside
Carvings, structure, pillars all stand testimony to the imagination of the erstwhile king.
12. Some more
Some more intricate designs inside. All in ruins.
13. Going back
When you come out of the fort, a beautiful garden with structures around await you.
Bhangarh Fort premises has atleast three temples inside, a baoli which is not clean, and a smell that makes you question – what did happen here? Because something did.
Alas, no one is allowed inside the fort after sunset. Some people claim to have been inside but no one is willing to talk about it. The mystery continues.
