In the year 2012, IRCTC introduced five new journeys of the Maharajas' Express, of which two are short-term Golden Triangle (Delhi, Jaipur and Agra) tours and rest three are week-long pan-Indian voyages.

There are 14 guest carriages, which accommodate 88 guests on board. The carriages are categorized as 20 Deluxe Cabins, 18 Junior Suites, 4 Suites and a lavish Presidential Suite. All these are praised for offering stylish living similar to 5 star accommodation.

The train also features two restaurants to tickle the tastebuds of the guests onboard. "Mayur Mahal" and "Rang Mahal" are the two restaurants that leave the guests spellbound with its amazing hand painted fresco ceiling. At any given time, the restaurants can accommodate up to 42 guests.

Apart from restaurants, the luxury travel carriage also features two bars for the guests who enjoy drinking over a friendly conversation. 'The Rajah Club' is a lounge bar and 'Safari Bar' is a thematic bar, both designed to provide relaxed and comfortable sitting arrangement along with complementing the fine range of spirits and wines.

2. Palace on Wheels
- The palace on wheel was started on 26th January 1982. It is the most expensive Indian train and the world's 4th best luxurious train.
- Palace on Wheels has 7 days and 8 night's journeys which ride across the Rajasthan (Land of Rajputana Kings).
- The train has 14 coaches /carriages which can can accommodate upto 88 guests; each of the cabins is named after erstwhile Rajput states namely Alwar, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Bundi, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Kishangarh, Udaipur, and Sirohi.
- There are two restaurants named Maharani Restaurants and Maharaja Restaurants, with facilities like bar, live TV, Spa, music, internet connectivity, security and music.

3. The Golden Chariot
- Best way to experience the major and offbeat tourism destinations of South India.
- It has recently been awarded the 'Asia's leading luxury train' award at the World Travel Awards, 2013.
- It is named after the Stone Chariot in the Vitthala Temple at Hampi.
- The 19 coaches on the train are coloured purple and gold, and sport the logo of a mythological animal with the head of an elephant and a body of a lion.
- It's 7 Nights / 8 Days colorful journey begins every Monday from Bangalore, Kabini, Mysore, Hassan, Hampi, Badami, Goa.
- The Golden Chariot offers accommodation in 44 cabins in 11 coaches that are named after dynasties that ruled the region: Kadamba, Hoysala, Rashtrakuta, Ganga, Chalukya, Bahamani, Adil Shahi, Sangama, Satavahana, Yadukula and Vijayanagar.
- It also has two restaurants, a lounge bar, and conference, gym and spa facilities.
- It has onboard internet connectivity via an USB-stick, and satellite antennae providing live television service in the cabins.
4. Royal Rajasthan on Wheels
- Upgraded version of world famous Palace on Wheels.
- After the grand success of Palace on Wheels that is operational from last 25 years, this new train was launched in January 2009.
- The Train has 14 passenger coaches and are named after the famous places of Rajasthan namely Hawa Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Surya Mahal, Moti Mahal, Sukh Mahal, Jal Mahal Padmini Mahal, Kishori Mahal, Phool Mahal, Jogi Mahal, Kumbha Palace, Lalgarh Palace.
- The train has two restaurants namely 'Swaran Mahal' amd 'Sheesh Mahal'. These restaurants offer you mouth watering delicacies ranging from ethnic Rajasthani, Indian, Continental and Chinese Cuisines. The entire restaurant is made of wood and crystal.
- The train takes tourists on a 7-day/8-night tour through Rajasthan. The train starts from New Delhi's Safdarjung railway station, and has stops at Jodhpur, Udaipur and Chittaurgarh, Ranthambore National Park and Jaipur, Khajuraho, Varanasi and Sarnath, Agra and back to Delhi.
5. The Deccan Odyssey
- Special luxury train modelled on the Palace on Wheels to boost tourism on the Konkan route of the Indian Railways.
- The route starts in Mumbai and travels to Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Ajanta-Ellora and then back to Mumbai.
- It is a venture of the Maharashtra Government and the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.
- Deccan Odyssey comprises of 21 luxuriously appointed coaches. Out of these 21 coaches, 11 are to accommodate guests and the rest are used for different purposes such as dining, lounge, conference car and health spa.
- The coaches fitted with special amenities were manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.
- The duration of the tour is 7 nights, starting every Wednesday from Mumbai.
