1. The Lords, Cricket Ground in London
Established: 1814
First Match: 1884 (The Ashes)
-Also called the Home of Cricket.
-It has remained the center of ICC committee for a long period of time.
-Named after its founder, Thomas Lord who formed it in 1814.
-Many final matches of the World Cup have been played in this ground, like 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999.
-This ground is also considered as the home-ground to the Marylebone Cricket Club, and many of the home matches have been played here in the Lords.
2. Eden Gardens, Kolkata India
Established : 1864
Capacity : 90,000
Home for : Bengal cricket team & Kolkata Knight Riders
-India's oldest and the biggest cricket stadium in India.
-It has been centre of international cricket since 1934 when England played India.
-2nd biggest ground in the world just behind Melbourne cricket ground.
-Eden Gardens posses a capacity of 90,000 and hosted some of the great games in world cricket famously that 1987 World Cup match against Pakisan which India won by 2 wickets.
-On the other hand it has been centre of some worst cricket sportsmanship failures, back in 1996 semifinal match between India and Sri Lanka when it looked like Sri Lanka are going to win crowd started buring stuff in the stadium and match had to be stopped and eventually Sri Lanka won it after ICC intervene.
-There is also a famous saying which goes like this, "A cricketer's career is incomplete, till he plays in front of a packed Eden gardens".
3. The WACA, Perth (Australia)
Established: 1893
Capacity: 24,000
-Also or formerly known as Western Australia Cricket Association Ground.
-Famous for its extra bounce and due to its fast bowling track it always favors the fast bowlers and they can perform here magnificently.
-Brett Lee has enjoyed huge achievements here in this ground.
4. Newlands, Cape Town (South Africa)
Capacity: 25,000
-Also called Sahara Park Newlands.
-This stadium is surrounded by Table Mountain and Devil's Peak.
-Unlike all other Venues in South Africa, this Pitch is a Spinner Friendly one. It has undergone numerous Renovations during which the Grass embankments have been replaced by Pavilion.
-The first Test match at Newlands was between South Africa and England, played during March in 1889.
5. Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand
Capacity - 50,000
-New Zealand's premier sporting stadium has been home of Auckland Cricket and Auckland Rugby since 1910, when the ground, previously swamp land was first developed into two ovals.
-Eden Park is located in the heart of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, straddling the boundary between the suburbs of Mount Eden and Kingsland.
-Used primarily for rugby union in winter and cricket in summer, it has hosted rugby league and soccer matches.
-It became the first stadium in the world to host two Rugby World Cup Finals, having held the inaugural final in 1987.
-Eden Park's international profile, is unmatched by any other stadium in the country.
-Eden Park has been selected as a venue for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
