1. Collecting Data of Artists
Ministry of Culture has organized a project ‘Cultural Mapping of India’ and for which it is collecting data of various artists in India. This project is emphasized on carrying the survey of Cultural Topography of India. For making it effective, since May 15, 2015 several meetings of experts have been taken where the work of data entry is provided to Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi. Until now, data of 55 lakh artists have been collected and is expected to be completed quickly by the help of state government along with other organizations. Moreover, an emphasis is on developing a National Informatics Centre (NIC) where artists can access online and update their data. A draft mission document has been prepared to generate fund for this project.
The entire theme of ‘Cultural Mapping of India’ is to preserve, promote share and explore India’s heritage and culture with the world. Thus, for this a centralized data is required in a systematic manner at one place, which is streamlined and rationalized for everyone’s access online. Thus, various finance-based schemes are also indentified to promote, nurture and train artists.
