Meghalaya Discover Our Very Own Scotland of the East

As a matter of fact, a major portion of years covered under the above couple of decades, all the urban citizen of Shillong, irrespective of class or clan, have faced some unwanted situations very often and way of living became almost crippled during the period. During the period, almost every year it was noticed that a recalcitrant situation, in general, commenced from March-April and culminated by October-November.

The motive behind the selection of a particular period in almost every year needs no explanation because the so-called outsiders are yet to digest the impact of unwanted situations occurred during the period. So far I remember due to the prevailing disquiet situation during the period, there was a lot of outflow of non-indigenous people who stayed in this part of the land for many-many years.  The intellectual people of the state finally realized the ill – effect of deteriorative law and order situation and under connivance with the Government took appropriate step jointly and made efforts for revival of the overall situation of the state towards law and order and their efforts did not go in vain.

Thereafter, the state started developing in all sectors and which has been continuing till date.  With the change of overall scenario of Shillong and its surrounding, leaving past the old beauty, as I felt, nomenclature of the stretch of land earlier known as ‘Scotland of the East ‘to be redefined as ‘The Queen Of Seven Sisters’.
