Gokarna is a divine place so one will find a lot of options to buy which are more relevant to spirituality. This is a small town based on the western coastline of India in Karnataka state. This place has a lot to offer to the tourists and it is still an undiscovered gem where you have so much to explore. Even the government has started to work on the infrastructure to provide travellers with more comfort and cosiness. When you are travelling to a particular destination you would like to retain memories of the trip. There are two ways to do it either you can click some pictures which will forget nowadays so click so many of them the other one is you buy the local souvenirs. Some of the items purchased are used by self and some needs to be gifted to friends and relatives. You will not find large superstores, fancy markets in this town, rather some small shops depicting the brass lamps, other items, clothes, holy books, handicrafts and musical instruments.
1. Car Street
It is a street market based near to the Maha Ganpati temple in Gokarna. You can buy almost everything here right from cool trinkets, bells, vessels for worship, statues of gods, conchs, incense sticks, Rudraksha Mala, brass lamps, other brass and similar metal items which are primarily used in prayers. One can also buy clothes and accessories from here like slippers, pants, t-shirts, dresses and much more. One can even buy musical instruments such as sitar, guitars, and other such instruments, there are several shops on this street. There is a popular local sugar candy known as palm sugar crystals. These candies are prepared in the local area and generally, they are homemade and it can be normally consumed as a candy.
2. Gokarna Temple Market
The main shrine of Gokarna is Shri Mahabaleshwara temple. So once you are visiting this place and you come out of the temple you will find some shops nearby selling the worship items. These are mainly made of brass and consists of bells, brass lamps, brass places, vessels, and clothing, primarily T-shirts with quoting mantra, quotes about or related to gods. You may also locate some handicraft items lamps made of fine soil, small pots, god statues and other beautiful souvenirs which you may gift to your loved ones.
3. Sri Radhakrishna Bookstore
This is a very old bookstore based on the car street and famous for a wide variety of books available for every type of reader. Books can be a great idea while relaxing on the beach and getting suntan one can enjoy going through the favourite novel. The books collection is not only limited to spiritual books, Indian fiction however they even stock second-hand books in European languages as well.
