In Himachal Pradesh, Palampur is an unusual place which has a number of teagardens, but it is just the one feature. The city is also famous for its mild climate and great quantity of water as it lies in the lap of mountains. In fact, the word Palampur city name is derived from the local word palum which means an abundance of water. The area close to the city acts as a channel for several streams of water from the Dhauladhar mountains to the plains. This results in lots of water streams across the city. One side of the city shows plains and in contrary, the other side has the beautiful sight of snow covered mountains Dhauladhar ranges. This scene actually makes you feel like experiencing the heaven.

Palampur is situated at an altitude of 1220 meter above the sea level. Its idiosyncratic location causes the climate to stay mild all through the year. Palampur receives temperate weather conditions. Summers are from April to June and are mild whereas winters are from November to February and they are quite cold. The rainy season is a little bit heavy in contrast to the other parts of Kangra valley as it is present near to Dharamsala just about 30 KM, the city that receives the maximum amount of rainfall in Himachal Pradesh.

You should definitely visit the tea gardens here but other than this there are a number of places to see here. They are:-

Nugal Cafe- It is a picnic spot which is situated 2Km  away from the city.

Tashi Jong Monastery: This is a beautiful center where Buddhists worship.

Saurabh Van Bihar: For a relaxing and enjoyable time you must visit this park. It is covered by lush greenery and mountains. The park has water bodies, Picnic Sheds, Children Park etc. Thus it is a complete entertainment zone.

Jakhani Devi Temple and Chamunda Devi temple- They are famous temple which is at a distance of 5 km and 10 km from the city respectively.

Gopalpur Zoo: Gopalpur zoo is just 10km from Palampur which is situated on Palampur Dharamshala Road. It has a great number of species of animals and birds

Baijnath Shiva Temple:  This ancient temple is actually 1000 years old which is situated at Baijnath and is just 16 km from the city. May devotees of Lord Shiva come here.

Thus this beautiful tea garden city is a must visit the place during vacations.
