Seychelles is a country in East Africa located in the Indian Ocean which consists of a group of 115 islands. 1. Curieuse Island and Marine National park
The island is one of the granitic islands and is also known as the Red Island because of its red soil. The island is developed into a national park to protect its wildlife and natural vegetation. The place boasts of rare species like coco de mer palms, giant tortoises, humphead parrotfish, giant takamaka trees and Seychelles Black Parrot etc. A museum is also a major attraction which tells about the history of island.
2. Sainte Anne Marine National Park
This national park is located near Victoria and includes a group of six small islands.
The place is the main tourist spot and is very famous for scuba diving, glass-bottomed boat outings. One of the main attractions of this place is snorkelling among coral reefs. For people who love to relax there’s a resort in Ste Anne. Also there are many gourmet restaurants in Cerf Island and Round Island.
3. Cousin Island
The place is declared as a natural reserve and is a heaven for bird lovers. Rare and endemic species of birds like Magpipe Robin, Warbler and Seychelles Fody etc are found here. Day trips are organised for tourists and educational groups.
4. Aride Island
This island is a granitic island located 10 km from Praslin Island. The island has been developed into a natural reserve sanctuary and the only persons allowed to live here are staff and volunteers. The island has unique flora and fauna which remains untouched by humans. That’s why the place is so serene and beautiful.
5. Bicentennial Monument
The monument shaped like three wings was built by Lorenzo Appiani in the year 1978.
It was erected to commemorate the 200th anniversary of discovery of Victoria. The monument is a simple geometric design in white colour depicting the people of Seychelles which come from three different cultural groups i.e. Asia, Africa and Europe.
6. Eustache Sardes House
It’s a house that dates back to early 20th century and is one of its kinds. The house is made of timber and is a major tourist attraction in La Digue Island. The main features are a large balcony, ornamental wooden pillars and design that allows natural ventilation.
7. Dauban Mausoleum
Located in the Silhouette Island near Mahe, this is an illustrious building with distinct features. The location of this structure is very calm and serene and in between numerous coconut plantations. The Mausoleum offers a peek into the history of the Dauban family.
8. Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate Conception
Located in Mahe, the Cathedral is one of the first churches built in Seychelles. The church has undergone many renovations but the exterior remains the same. It also has a tomb in the flooring where the only Bishop of Seychelles is buried.
9. Petite Anse
It is a beach resort built on the calm and serene beaches of Grenada. The place is an attraction because the place is in its natural beauty and remains unspoilt till date. The resort has 11 rooms each one is on the beach itself giving a scenic view of the ocean.
10. Granite Boulder
One of the nature’s wonders, this beautiful and awesome place is a national monument.
