But the present structure there began during 5th Dalai Lama in 1645. Later Potrang Karpo or while palace and Potrang Marpo or the red palace were added to the original palace. Potala palace was residence of all Dalai Lamas till the 14th Dalai Lama had to fly to India due to Chinese aggression.

Alhambra a palace cum fortress complex situated in Granada, Andalusia of Spain. It was originally built as a fortress in 889 AD and then turned into a royal palace in the year 1333 by Sultan Yusuf I. The Granada's Islamic royal residence at Alhambra was made for last Muslim Emirs of Nasrid dynasty in Spain and for its court.
