About Mullaitivu
Mullaitivu is the main town of Mullaitivu District, arranged on the north-eastern shore of Northern Province, Sri Lanka. The great extent angling settlement, the town in the mid twentieth century developed as a tying down harbor of the little cruising vessels transporting products among Colombo and Jaffna. The town has a District Secretary's office, numerous other government foundations and schools situated in and around the zone.
Amid the Kandyan Wars, the British government house in Mullaitivu was assaulted by the powers of Pandara Vanniyan and Dissava of Nuwara Kalawiya and lay attack to the post. Skipper Drieberg with his power of Malays got away from the fortification in pontoons and achieved Jaffna. Amid the Sri Lankan Civil War, Mullaitivu turned into a segregated base for the Sri Lankan military.
In a contributed fight the LTTE prevailing over running the base in 1996. Following this the Sri Lankan military pulled back from Mullaitivu which permitted the LTTE picked up control of the region. It was harmed by the 2004 Indian Ocean wave with a vast death toll. The Sri Lankan Army took control of the town on January 25, 2009, in the Battle of Mullaitivu in its hostile against the LTTE.
