Kataragama Museum

Kataragama Museum that opened its doors in 2008, focuses on the multi-religious history of the city and its surrounding areas. This archaeological museum inside the complex has a collection of Hindu and Buddhist religious items, as well as huge fibreglass replicas of statues from around Sri Lanka. The labelling, however, is not in a good condition.. Katharagama museum depicts the beliefs and cultural strains of all religious faiths represented in Sri Lanka. This place is visited by a large number of pilgrims on daily basis. It is one of the most important historical places in Sri Lanka and thousands of Buddhist, Hindus and Muslims visit Katharagama without any differentiation of any race or religion.
