About Zumaia
Zumaia is a residential community in the north of Spain in the Basque Country. The town has two shorelines Itzurun and Santiago, which are important to geologists since they are arranged among the longest arrangement of nonstop shake strata on the planet. Referred to locally as the "flysch" they date from the mid-cretaceous time frame to the present, a day and age of more than 100 million years. The K-T limit is available at the Itzurun shoreline, and fossils can be found, outstandingly of ammonites. The strata extends along a separation of around 8 km, between the towns/shorelines of Deba and Getaria, with Zumaia lying in the center.
The town is likewise the home/historical center of the painter Ignacio Zuloaga. Displays incorporate works by El Greco, Rivera, Zurbaran and Goya. Over the road there is an exhibition hall of specialty and hand-created results of Laia. Inside the downtown area, the Basque-style Gothic church of San Pedro can be found. It has a sanctuary with a superb reredos by Juan de Antxieta, the main work by this Basque stone carver found in Gipuzkoa. Zumaia is situated at the point where the Urola and Narrondo waterways meet up. It is one of the great place.
