About Tholos de El Romeral
Tholos de El Romeral, located 2.5 kilometres north east of the metropolis of Antequera Andalusia, is one of the most important examples of Neolithic structure in southern Europe. Tholos de El Romeral, also referred to as Cueva de Romeral Cave of Romeral and Dolmen de Romeral, is a megalithic burial web site constructed circa 1800 BCE. It is one in all 3 tombs in area, the others being Dolmen de Menga and Dolmen de Viera, each located to the south west. In 2016, the dolmens of Menga, Viera, and El Romeral had been all inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site beneath the name "Antequera Dolmens Site Tholos de El Romeral is a chambered tomb blanketed by a mound.
It includes an extended hall with drystone partitions product of small stones and a ceilings made of megalithic slabs. The hall culminates with two consecutive round beehive-like chambers. The larger chamber has a diameter of approximately 4.20 metres 13.8 toes and has corbelled walls built in the equal manner as the corridor, projecting inwards and culminating in a megalithic capstone. The floor of the hall and most important chamber are manufactured from packed earth. The 2nd chamber is linked to the first with the aid of a rectangular hall and isn't reachable to the public.
