Teatro Fortuny

The Fortuny Theater was born in 1882, driven by the leading center of the reusenca bourgeoisie and motivated by the need to provide Reus with a theater comparable to the first Catalan cities. Since its inauguration until 1883, the theater experienced the vicissitudes of the ious entrepreneurs who managed it. Throughout its stages, there were all kinds of shows, from the most popular to the most important companies of the time, as well as the introduction to the cinema.

The theater was re-inaugurated in 1988, managed by the Fortuny Theater Consortium, which consists of three public institutions: Generalitat de Catalunya, Diputació de Tarragona and Reus City Council.The Fortuny Theater has capacity for 850 spectators. At the moment, the management of the programming is in charge of the Fortuny Theater Consortium. The theater of text, opera, music or dance make up the offer of the Fortuny Theater, which has excellent rates of employment.
