About St John the Royal
San Juan el Real, in interpretation, St John the Royal is a Baroque-style, Roman Catholic church situated in Calatayud, area of Aragon, Spain. The congregation was charged by the Jesuit request, and committed to the Virgen del Pilar. In any case, in 1769, after the ejection of the Jesuits from Spain, the parishioners changed over this into a ward church to supplant the destroyed 12th century San Juan de Vallupie church. They changed the commitment to San Juan el Real. The block veneer is calm and surmounted with thin pyramidal apexes.
The mudejar-style tower was not worked until 1774 - 1777; the structural style, while atavistic coordinated different towers in the city and was sought after by the plans of Mosen Jose Jimeno of Ateca. As run of the mill for that style, the level of enrichment increments with the tallness. The Renaissance-style gateway likely gets from the earlier church of San Salvador. Over the lintel is a specialty with a statue of St John 1774-1777 with the emblem of King Ferdinand VI. The sacristy is currently an exhibition hall with a presentation of Baroque works of art.
