About Pollenca
Pollenca is a town and region arranged in the northern piece of the island of Majorca, close Cap de Formentor and Alcudia. It lies inland, around 6 km west of its port, Port de Pollenca. The name "Pollenca" originates from the name of the Roman settlement of "Pollentia," the unearthed stays of which lie a few kilometers away, at the cutting edge district of Alcudia. It was established by the Catalans in the 13th century somewhere in the range of 6 km from the drift with an end goal to maintain a strategic distance from privateer assaults.
Most houses were worked in the 17th and 18th centuries and numerous lanes are exceptionally thin and reduced, an inheritance from the medieval time. The focal square, called Placa Major, has various outside bistros and is overwhelmed by a substantial 13th century church Esglesia de Nostra Senyora dels Angels Our Lady of the Angels which was worked by the Knights Templar. One of the town's most particular highlights is the 365-advance stairway north of the square; this paves the way to a house of prayer over the slope known as Calvary. Most visited sights in Pollenca, Placa Mayor, Placa Vella, Can Llobera, Convent, Joan March Gardens, Calvari and Roman Bridge.
