Olivenza

Olivenza or Olivenca is a town arranged on a questioned area of the Portugal, Spain fringe. Its region is regulated by Spain as a region having a place with the territory of Badajoz, and to the more extensive self-ruling network of Extremadura. As Olivenca, the town was under Portuguese sway between 1297 and 1801 when it was attacked by the Spanish amid the War of the Oranges and surrendered to Spain that year under the Treaty of Badajoz. Spain has since directed the region, while Portugal conjures the self-repudiation of the Treaty of Badajoz, in addition to the Treaty of Vienna of 1815, to guarantee the arrival of the domain.

By an understanding among Spain and Portugal, the left bank of the stream was perceived as being a portuguese area and sets accepted fringe here. There are still hints of Portuguese culture and dialect in the general population, in spite of the fact that the more youthful ages communicate in Spanish as it were. Toward the start of the 1940s the city was apparently for the most part Portuguese-speaking, however after the 1940s a dialect move towards Spanish occurred.
