About Mount Benacantil
Mount Benacantil is a mount or rather a big hill that dominates the city a part of Alicante, and is the characteristic photo of the city. The mount name seems as Banu-l-Qatil in the work of Muslim geographer Al-Idrisi inside the 12th century, but it's far feasible that that is an errors of transcription Arab names like "beni" are considerable on the peninsula; the name means own family tree because it does now not make a whole lot of experience in Arabic it would be "the circle of relatives of the assassin". Compared with different names in Valencian Community, the mount name is much more likely to be derived from the word "benna", Arabic transcription of "pinna", which is rock in Latin; mixed with the adjective "laqanti", which comes from "Laqant," the Arabic call of the town.
The rock mount is included by way of pine trees and bushes on the north aspect, while on the south aspect, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, there are handiest rocks. In the intermediate areas there are timber and grasses which can be quite function for the dry Mediterranean weather. The mount is famous for the rock formation on its south-western slope, called la cara del moro "the moor's face. The medieval fortress of Alicante, the Castle of Santa Barbara stands at the top of the mount. On the slopes of the mount there are Park Ereta, neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, San Roque, San Anton and Raval Roig, and antique apartments. In current years it became a botellon vicinity. Avenida Jaime II, which is a continuation of Avenida de Alfonso el Sabio, crosses the northern foot of the mount, and so does a tunnel of Alicante Tram.
