About Monastery of la Murta
The Monastery of Santa Maria de la Murta is a previous cloister of the request of the Hieronymites situated in the Valley of La Murta in Alzira, Spain. Throughout its history was a vital emporium of culture and otherworldliness and focal point of journey of the eminence, the gentry and persuasive religious characters. It was gained by the City Hall of Alzira in 1989, and from 1995, is in recuperation and rebuilding both the religious circle and its condition of La Murta Valley.
In 568, under the rule of Liuvigild, San Donato and his loners who had fled from Africa established in the Valley, at that point called Valley of "Miralles”, a servetano cloister. The Arab intrusion in 711 remaining him crushed and the recluses were scattered, the originator kicking the bucket and being covered in the religious community. Anyway its starting points are archived in the original copy 1773 of the dad J. B. Morera, researcher of the file of the cloister, from the 14th, when Arnau de Serra alcireno Knight, Lord of the grounds of La Murta, approval of the King Peter IV of Aragon, gave them to a gathering of recluses built up on the Valley with the state of establishing a religious network.
