About Laredo
Laredo is a metropolis in the autonomous community of Cantabria. According to the 2008 census, the municipality has a population of 12,648 inhabitants. In addition to Laredo, the municipality consists of the villages of La Arenosa, El Callejo, Las Carcobas, Las Casillas, La Pesquera, Tarrueza and Villante. Except from the remaining two, the alternative villages were bodily integrated into Laredo. Located between the cities of Santander and Bilbao, Laredo is thought in the place and nationally for "La Salve", its 5 km long beach and for the historic part of metropolis dating back to Roman times.
Its festivities in August also are widely recognized because of the principle event that happens every year on the ultimate Friday of August, referred to as la Batalla de flores, all through which huge floats entirely covered with plant life and petals are paraded along the primary streets. In Laredo it's miles lifestyle for a set of fellows to parade a massive sardine via city on the cease of carnival. At the end of this ritual, known as Entierro de la Sardina, the sardine is burned at the beach after a fireworks show.
