About Chapel of Saviour
The roots of the Chapel of Saviour lie deep within the beyond. As part of Christ’s one holy, catholic and apostolic Church, this parish, like every catholic and apostolic congregations, reveals its origins in, and owes its existence to, the commission of Jesus Christ to “go into all the international and make disciples”. In the early 1950, Episcopalians in Colorado Springs answered to this commission by searching for to provide an area in the Broadmoor region for the Christian training of vicinity kids. In 1954, the north end of the existing belongings, consisting of the present homes, previously the Allen estate, become received and made available for the established order of parochial project through Grace Church.
During the first months, offerings had been held within the former residing room with Father Scott Frantz because the first Vicar of the parish. Since the room seated best 90 humans on folding chairs, it turned into quickly decided to clean the carriage house and cover the grease pit so that services may be held there. In 1956, the El Pomar Foundation bought the remaining five acres of the prevailing assets and gave it to the mission. The remodeling of the carriage residence into the existing church building became a gift of the Howard Creel circle of relatives. The Rt. Rev. Joseph Minnis, Bishop of Colorado, consecrated the constructing as a church on October 30, 1959. The Vicar at that time was the Rev. William Shannon.
