About Cathedral of the Savior

The Cathedral of the Savior or La Seo de Zaragoza is a Roman Catholic house of God in Zaragoza, in Aragon, Spain. It is a piece of the World Heritage Site Mudejar Architecture of Aragon. The house of God is situated on the Plaza de la Seo and is usually known as La Seo Spanish for "see" to recognize it from the adjacent El Pilar. They both offer co-church building status in metropolitan Zaragoza. The area of the Seo has its foundations in the old Roman discussion. In contrast to other Roman city gatherings, the discussion of Caesaraugusta was not situated at the conversion of the Cardus and the Decumanus, yet rather close to the Ebro river, abutting the river port. The Museum of the Forum is found beneath the court del Pilar, opposite the exterior of the house of prayer.

There have been no remaining parts found of either a Visigoth or a Mozarabic church. La Seo was based on the site of the old Roman discussion of Augustus and of the principle mosque of the Moorish city of Saraqusta, components of whose minaret frame some portion of the present pinnacle. The development started in the 12th century in the Romanesque style, and experienced numerous changes and extensions until 1704, when the Baroque tower finished the pinnacle. The church is a blend of styles, from the Romanesque apse to the Baroque pinnacle and Neo-Classical fundamental entryway, going through Mudejar and Gothic.
