About Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady

The Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady of Segorbe is a Roman Catholic church in Segorbe, region of Castellon, Spain. It was lifted to the rank of minor basilica in 1985. Located against the city's dividers, the congregation, when a mosque, has been totally modified in 1246 in Valencian Gothic style in such a way, to the point that it safeguards no hint of Arab architecture. Of this 13th century structure, just parts of the western facade, the vaults of a few sanctuaries, the heap bearing dividers, the pinnacle of Santa Barbara, the ringer tower and the shelter remain.

It was sanctified on 7 May 1534, and has a solitary, cross-vaulted nave, without transept and arch, with houses of prayer situated between the braces. It is associated by a scaffold with the old episcopal castle. The congregation was redesigned in 1791-1795 in Neo-exemplary style, bringing about the almost add up to covering up of the Gothic structure. The Cathedral museum houses a few works of art by neighborhood and remote craftsmen, having a place with the International Gothic, the 15th century Flemish painting.
