Calatayud
About Calatayud
Calatayud is a district in the Province of Zaragoza, inside Aragon, Spain, lying on the stream Jalon, amidst the Sistema Iberico mountain run. It is the second-biggest town in the area after the capital, Zaragoza, and the biggest town in Aragon other than the three commonplace capitals. It is the seat of the comarca of Calatayud. In Calatayud they were held one day sooner than the remainder of Spain, so as to get ready for a visit there by King Juan Carlos I.
A standout amongst the most remarkable Mudejar towers of Aragon is the 15th century chime tower of the university church of Santa Maria, which was based on the site of a mosque. The Muslim post is the greatest and most established one on the Iberian promontory. The congregation of "San Pedro" was established by Ferdinand II of Aragon and it was there that the primary cortes parliament of Aragon was held in 1411.
