About Berriz
Berriz is a town and region situated in the territory of Biscay, in the Basque Country, northern Spain. Berriz is a piece of the comarca of Durangaldea and has a populace of 4.759 occupants starting at 2007 and as indicated by the Spanish National Statistics Institute. Berriz has a place with a progression of Basque toponyms. Julio Caro Baroja safeguarded that a large portion of these toponyms originated from a unique Basque toponym in addition to the Latin postfix - icus.
On account of Berriz, Caro Baroja proposed that the name may originate from Verrius, the recorded Latin name. At that point, to the name Verrius it was included the postfix - icus showing that the grounds were possessed by Verrius and moved toward becoming Verricus. From at that point, the name developed to Verrici and from that point to Verriz.
The name of the town in Spanish used to be Verriz. Julio Caro Baroja 13 November 1914 – 18 August 1995 was an incredibly famous Spanish anthropologist, student of history, language specialist and writer. He was known for his unique enthusiasm for Basque culture, Basque history and Basque society. Of Basque lineage, he was the nephew of the prestigious essayist Pio Baroja and his sibling, painter, author and etcher Ricardo Baroja. He is covered at the family's home, Itzea, in Bera, Navarre.
