About Argentona Water Jug Museum
The Argentona Water Jug Museum, established in 1975, is situated in a building which opened on 20 July 2000. The birthplaces of the museum can be found in the Water Jug Festival, which is commended on 4 August consistently since 1951, maintaining a conventional festival going back to the 17th century, achieved by a 'promise of the town' to Saint Dominic, benefactor holy person of water, to shield Argentona from a grave epidemic.
Consistently, concurring with the Water Jug Festival, the Water Jug Museum composes the International Ceramic and Pottery Festival, the dates of which differ as indicated by the day on which 4 August falls, with the end goal to scatter and advance the preservation of conventional stoneware and the new estimations of the earthenware production being delivered. The gathering incorporates in excess of 3,000 water vessels. In July 2006, the Espai was opened, which shows four water jugs by the capable craftsman from Malaga and clarifies the relationship Pablo Picasso had with earthenware production.
