Namdaemun
About Namdaemun
Namdaemun previously also known by the name of Sungnyemun, is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea, which encompassed the city in the Joseon administration.
The entryway is situated in Jung-gu between Seoul Station and Seoul Plaza, with the memorable 24-hour Namdaemun showcase beside the door.
The entryway, going back to the fourteenth century, is a noteworthy pagoda-style door, and is assigned as the main National Treasure of South Korea.
It was first worked in the most recent year of King Taejo of Joseon's reign in 1398, and reconstructed in 1447.
In 2008, the wooden pagoda on the door was seriously harmed by pyro-crime. Rebuilding chip away at the door began in February 2010 and was finished on 29 April 2013. The door was revived on 4 May 2013.
