Gongju
About Gongju
Gongju also spelt Kongju, is a city in South Chungcheong province, South Korea. Gongju was formerly named Ungjin and became the capital of Baekje from AD 475 to 538. In this period, Baekje become underneath chance from Goguryeo. Goguryeo had overrun the preceding capital of Hanseong modern-day-day Seoul, which pressured Baekje to discover a new middle of strength. In 538, King Seong moved the capital to Sabi in contemporary-day Buyeo County. However, Gongju remained an important center till the kingdom's fall in 660.
The plan has aroused controversy, with opposition parties calling for a referendum to peer whether or not it is advocated by using the population.
