Gangneung si

Gangneung is a city in the province of Gangwon do, at the east coast of South Korea. It has a population of 213,658. Gangneung is the financial centre of the Yeongdong area of Gangwon-do. Gangneung has many vacationer points of interest, including Jeongdongjin, a completely popular area for looking the solar rise, and Gyeongpo Beach.

There is an ROK airbase south of downtown Gangneung that previously doubled as a civil airport. Gangneung was the place in which Yemaek humans lived from historic instances and became the land of Wiman Joseon in 129 BC. In 128 BC, Nam Ryeo, the military officer of Yaekam, punished Wujang of Wisman Korea and have become the territory of the Han dynasty. In the 14th yr of Goguryeo Muchheon, it entered Goguryeo territory. In 639, Silla occupied this vicinity and dominated it as a Seogyeong. In 658, King Moo-yeong abolished the Seogyeong and made an arsenal to ship the todok, because it turned into adjoining to Malgal. In 757, it changed into renamed Sungju and restored it in 776.
