According to the Samgungnyusa, Vinaya Master Jinpyo gave a few bones with sutras engraved on them to Ven. Yeongsim, who later offered them to Patriarch Simji. In attempting to choose where to cherish these bones, Patriarch Ven. Simji climbed a peak, alongside the two divine forces of Mt. Jungak, one of Silla's five hallowed mountains, and tossed them toward the west. The bones overwhelmed in the breeze and arrived in a little well north of what is presently Donghwasa Temple's Chamdang Hall. He developed an address lobby there and revered the bones inside it, along these lines setting up Donghwasa Temple.
