About Daebudo
Daebu Island is an island within the Yellow Sea, inside the municipal borders of Ansan town, Gyeonggi province. It has a population of approximately 7,114 human beings and a place of forty one.98 km². Due to rising mudflats, the island has merged with neighbouring Seongam-do and Tan-do, Administratively, the island nowadays is divided into 5 dong: Daebubuk-dong Daebunam-dong , Daebudong-dong Seongam-dong and Pungdo-dong. The principal industries are tourism and fishing. The island is hooked up thru Seongam-do and Tan-do to the mainland inside the south-east by using street bridges, to Hyeong-do and thence the mainland in the north-east by using several routes because of land reclamation efforts, and to Seonjae do and thence.
Yeongheung Island and others to the west by using a further road bridge. During the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasties, Daebu Island became covered in the old jurisdiction of Namyang. On March 1, 1914, it was transferred to Bucheon, and on July 1, 1973 responsibility was transferred to Ongjin County which later have become part of Incheon Metropolitan City. On December 26, 1994 the island was moved into the jurisdiction of Ansan, wherein it remains nowadays.
