About Chungcheong
Chungcheong become one of the 8 provinces of Korea during the Joseon Dynasty. Chungcheong become placed in the southwest of Korea. The provincial capital was positioned at Gongju, which had been the capital of the kingdom of Baekje from 475 to 538. Chungcheong Province became fashioned in 1356—for the duration of the Goryeo Dynasty from the southern portion of the previous province of Yanggwang. Its call derived from the names of the main towns of Chungju.
In 1895, the province was replaced via the Districts of Chungju within the east, Gongju inside the centre and Hongju within the west. In 1896, Chungju and eastern Gongju Districts have been reorganized into North Chungcheong Province, and Hongju and western Gongju Districts were reorganized into South Chungcheong Province. North and South Chungcheong are these days a part of South Korea.
