Bongjeongsa is a Korean Buddhist temple on the slopes of Mount Cheondeung in Andong town, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It is a subsidiary temple of Gounsa, the head temple of the 16th department of Jogye Order. Bongjeongsa is the most important temple in Andong, and is the website online of the oldest wooden constructing, Geuknakjeon, in Korea. There are 10 buildings at the main temple and a total of 9 different homes at Bongjeongsa's two sub temples found to the east and west of the main temple complicated. This temple constitutes the oldest example of wooden structure in Korea.
During her experience to Korea in 1999, Queen Elizabeth II of the UK turned into particularly impressed by the dimensions and splendor of Bongjeonsa Temple. Bongjeongsa is thought first established by means of Monk Uisang in 672 at some point of the twelfth year of King Munmu of Silla, however, an inscription determined throughout a healing of Geuknakjeon kingdom that Neungin Daedeuk, a disciple of Monk Uisang, set up the temple.
