Union Buildings

Set in astounding greenery nooks, the Union Buildings summon the most critical reason for the city on Meintjieskop Hill close eminent Church Square, site of the city's first settlement. Laid out by Sir Herbert Baker in 1913, this important extent of sandstone structures mixes Italian Renaissance, English Renaissance, and Cape Dutch styles.

It's the seat of government and besides houses the working environments of the president and the state records. In the greenery walled in areas, which slant down in porches to Church Street, are the Delville Wood Memorial, recalling the South African warriors who fell in the First World War; statues of the South African PMs Louis Botha, J. B. M. Hertzog, and J. C. Sludges; and moreover a nine-meter-tall statue of Nelson Mandela.

Visitors come here to stroll around the nurseries, look at the building, and value the immense city sees.

The site moreover holds an exceptional place in the hearts of ious South Africans after past President Nelson Mandela's presentation happened here in 1994.
