About District Six Museum

Locale Six Museum is an exhibition hall in the previous inward city neighborhood, District Six, in Cape Town, South Africa.

District Six Foundation was established in 1989 and the historical center in 1994, as a dedication to the constrained development of 60,000 tenants of different races in District Six amid Apartheid in South Africa in the 1970s.

The story of the gallery is secured with a major guide of the area with transcribed notes of previous occupants, which show where their homes were found.

One previous inhabitant is jazz artist, Abdullah Ibrahim, better known by the name Dollar Brand.

Different pieces in the gallery are old activity signs, displays of authentic minutes and lives of families from the region, recorded statements, and shows about the demolition.

Furthermore, the historical center offers programs for current tenants to help build up the area.
