About Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve

Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve is located within the Drakensberg escarpment area of japanese Mpumalanga, South Africa. The reserve protects the Blyde River Canyon, which includes sections of the Ohrigstad and Blyde Rivers and the geological formations round Bourke's Luck Potholes, in which the Treur River tumbles into the Blyde under. Southwards of the canyon, the reserve follows the escarpment, to consist of the Devil's and God's Window, the latter a famous point of view to the lowveld at the reserve's southern extremity. The Mogologolo, Mariepskop and Hebronberg massifs are partly protected in the reserve.

Elevation varies from 560 m to 1,944 m above sea level. Its inn areas are F.H. Odendaal and Swadeni, the latter best reachable from Limpopo province. The location of approximately 29,000 hectares is administered by means of the Mpumalanga Parks Board. This geological feature and day traffic' attraction, is located on the confluence of the Treur and Blyde Rivers, at the reserve's western boundary 24°forty′28″S 30°48′39″E. The reserve's nature conservation headquarters is positioned right here, beside the village of Moremela, on the canyon's southern, or top reaches.
