About Afrikaans Language Monument

The Afrikaans dialect, talked for the most part in South Africa and Namibia, began as a tongue of Dutch, conveyed to the Cape zone by pilgrims from the Dutch East India Company in the late seventeenth century. "Afrikaans" is the Dutch word for "African," and the dialect was once called "Cape Dutch."

This very conundrum and the dialect's mind boggling political history, is delineated in stone by the Afrikaans dialect landmark in South Africa.

After some time, Afrikaans advanced into a particular dialect with solid impacts from other African dialects, similar to Khoikhoi, Nguni, and Sotho, too other European dialects like French and Portuguese.

The landmark's outline mirrors this movement: The three sections turn out to be continuously shorter, speaking to the winding down impact of the European dialects like Dutch and French, and the three curved hills develop in size to demonstrate the expanding pretended by African tongues.
