About Zapadnaya Dvina
Zapadnaya Dvina is a town and the authoritative focus of Zapadnodvinsky District in Tver Oblast, Russia, situated on the correct bank of the Daugava River, 321 kilometers southwest of Tver, the regulatory focal point of the oblast. Zapadnaya Dvina was established in 1900 as a station on the railroad interfacing Moscow and Riga. In 1927, it was conceded urban-type settlement status. It had a place with Toropetsky Uyezd of Pskov Governorate. On October 2, 1957, Velikiye Luki Oblast was canceled, and Oktyabrsky District was exchanged back to Kalinin Oblast.
On February 13, 1963 it was converged with a piece of Nelidovsky District to frame Zapadnodvinsky District, with the managerial focus in Zapadnaya Dvina. In 1990, Kalinin Oblast was renamed Tver Oblast. Inside the structure of regulatory divisions, Zapadnaya Dvina fills in as the authoritative focus of Zapadnodvinsky District. As a managerial division, it is consolidated inside Zapadnodvinsky District as Zapadnaya Dvina Urban Settlement. As a city division, this managerial unit additionally has urban settlement status and is a piece of Zapadnodvinsky Municipal District.
