Vytegra

Vytegra is a town and the managerial focus of Vytegorsky District in Vologda Oblast, Russia, situated along the shores of the Vytegra River on Volga, Baltic Waterway, 315 kilometers northwest of Vologda, the regulatory focal point of the oblast. It was first referenced in 1496 as Vytegorsky Pogost. Since 1710, it was known as Vyangi, situated at the conversion of the Vytegra and the Vyangi Rivers.
