About Udomlya
Udomlya is a town and the regulatory focal point of Udomelsky District in Tver Oblast, Russia, situated on the shores of Lake Pesvo on the Rybinsk, Bologoye railroad, 225 kilometers north of Tver, the authoritative focal point of the oblast. It was established in 1869 as a settlement serving the railroad station of Troitsa. At the time, it was a piece of Vyshnevolotsky Uyezd of Tver Governorate. Troitsa was renamed Udomlya in 1904. In January 1961, Udomlya was conceded work settlement status. In February 1963, amid the fruitless managerial change by Nikita Khrushchev, Udomelsky District was converged into Bologovsky District, however in January 1965 it was re-established.
Between 1974 and 1984, the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant was constructed. On September 11, 1981, Udomlya was allowed town status. In 1990, Kalinin Oblast was renamed Tver Oblast. Inside the system of regulatory divisions, Udomlya fills in as the managerial focus of Udomelsky District. As an authoritative division, it is fused inside Udomelsky District as Udomlya Urban Settlement. As a city division, this regulatory unit additionally has urban settlement status and is a piece of Udomelsky Municipal District.
