Svetly

Svetly is a town in Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, situated on the Samland Peninsula on the shore of Vistula Lagoon, 30 kilometers west of Kaliningrad, the managerial focus of the oblast. The town is situated on the bank of the Kaliningrad ocean shipping channel associating Kaliningrad with the Baltic Sea. It was established in 1640 as Zimmerbude and was a piece of East Prussia until 1945.

In 1947, it was renamed Svetly. Town status was allowed to it in 1955. Inside the system of managerial divisions, it is, as one with ten country areas, joined as the town of oblast criticalness of Svetly—a regulatory unit with the status equivalent to that of the districts. As a civil division, the town of oblast centrality of Svetly is fused as Svetlovsky Urban Okrug.
