Rybinsk

Rybinsk is the second biggest city of Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia, which lies at the conjunction of the Volga and Sheksna Rivers. Rybinsk is one of the most established Slavic settlements on the Volga River. The place was first recorded by writers in 1071 as Ust-Sheksna, i.e. "the mouth of the Sheksna". During this period the settlement was a local community for specialty and metal based create and for exchange. In the mid-thirteenth century, Ust-Sheksna was ruined by attacking Mongols.

For the following couple of centuries, the settlement was alluded to then again as Ust-Sheksna or Rybansk. From 1504, it was recognized in archives as Rybnaya Sloboda. The name is clarified by the way that the settlement provided the Muscovite court with decision sturgeons and sterlets. In the 17th century, when the sloboda was gaining by the exchange of the Muscovy Company with Western Europe, it was rich enough to manufacture a few stone chapels, of which just a single makes due to the present.
