About Rossgarten Gate

The Rossgarten Gate is one of seven surviving city entryways of Kaliningrad, Russia, once the German city of Konigsberg. It is situated at the crossing point of Chernyakhovskogo road and Alexander Nevsky road, close to the Vasilevskiy square and the Kaliningrad Amber Museum. Named after the locale Rossgarten, the present entryway supplanted a past adaptation of the door from the earliest starting point of the seventeenth century. It was built somewhere in the range of 1852 and 1855 under the supervision of Wilhelm Ludwig Stürmer. The entryway was harmed after the war, however reestablished a short time later and right now houses a bistro eatery called Solnetsnyy Kamen.
The gate consists of just a single section of around four meters wide. On the two sides of the section three casemates are found, so the entryway altogether has seven openings. Over the exterior of the entryway can be discovered a progression of merlons, isolated into two sections by the focal lifted piece of the door. The entryway itself has two high octagonal turrets. Over the principle curve of the entryway a post territory is arranged, again outfitted with merlons. Reliefs of the Prussian officers Gerhard von Scharnhorst and August Neidhardt von Gneisenau finish the primary curve. While the city side of the entryway is an exceptionally designed, the external side does not have any embellishing adornments.
