About Petrovsk
Petrovsk is a town in Saratov Oblast, Russia, situated on the Medveditsa River 104 kilometers northwest of Saratov, the authoritative focal point of the oblast. Established as a town, it was rearranged into a post by Peter the Great in 1698. The settlement around the fortification was named Petrovsk after the Tsar. Town status was conceded to it in 1780. Inside the system of managerial divisions, Petrovsk fills in as the regulatory focus of Petrovsky District, despite the fact that it's anything but a piece of it.
As an authoritative division, it is consolidated independently as Petrovsk Town Under Oblast Jurisdiction —a managerial unit with the status equivalent to that of the districts. As a civil division, Petrovsk Town Under Oblast Jurisdiction is fused inside Petrovsky Municipal District as Petrovsk Urban Settlement. Petrovsk is associated by railroad to Moscow and fills in as a stop on the Moscow– Balakovo train course.
