Novodvinsk

Novodvinsk is a town in the north of Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, situated on the left bank of the Northern Dvina River, 20 kilometers south of Arkhangelsk. It was established in 1935 as the settlement of Voroshilovsky serving a mash and paper process. It was conceded urban-type settlement status in 1941, renamed Pervomaysky in 1958, and was allowed town status in 1977, at which time it likewise got its present name.
