Nesterov

Nesterov is a town and the authoritative focus of Nesterovsky District in Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, found 140 kilometers east of Kaliningrad, the regulatory focal point of the oblast, close to the Russian-Lithuanian verge on the railroad associating Kaliningrad Oblast with Moscow. The town was overwhelm by the Soviet Red Army amid World War II on January 13, 1945. The area was exchanged from Germany to the Russian SFSR in 1945 and made a piece of Kaliningrad Oblast.

In 1946, the town, whose German occupants to a great extent emptied or were removed westbound, was renamed Nesterov after Sergey Nesterov, a Soviet war legend who was slaughtered in the region. Inside the system of regulatory divisions, Nesterov fills in as the managerial focus of Nesterovsky District. As an authoritative division, it is joined inside Nesterovsky District as the town of locale noteworthiness of Nesterov. As a city division, the town of area essentialness of Nesterov is consolidated inside Nesterovsky Municipal District as Nesterovskoye Urban Settlement.
