About Kozelsk
Kozelsk is a town and the authoritative focal point of Kozelsky District in Kaluga Oblast, Russia, situated on the Zhizdra River Oka's tributary, 72 kilometers or 45 mi southwest of Kaluga, the managerial focus of the oblast. It was first made reference to in a 1146 narrative as a piece of Principality of Chernigov. Kozelsk wound up renowned in the spring of 1238, when its 7 year old ruler Vasily, child of Titus, needed to shield the town against the armed force of Batu Khan. The last named it a "detestable town" since its nationals had been battling the assailants for seven weeks consecutively, executing around four thousand aggressors amid the attack.
Inside the system of regulatory divisions, Kozelsk fills in as the authoritative focus of Kozelsky District, to which it is specifically subordinated. As a metropolitan division, the town of Kozelsk is consolidated inside Kozelsky Municipal District as Kozelsk Urban. After World War II, Kozelsky District turned into the home for the 28th Guards Rocket Division of the Strategic Missile Troops. Up to 33% of the number of inhabitants in Kozelsk was associated somehow with the rocket division.
